Dedicated special issue to CoDa in accounting and finance

06/05/2026

The EAMR (European Accounting and Management Review, https://eamr-accid.eu) publishes the special issue “The compositional-data methodology for financial ratios”

To commemorate the ten years since Salvador Linares-Mustarós and Germà Coenders published the seminal work on compositional financial ratios, “Liquidity and debt profiles. From classification according to financial ratios to compositional classification”, the EAMR publishes a special issue with three articles (vol. 11, no. 1, https://eamr-accid.eu/volume-11-issue-1-2025/):

  1. “Ten years of compositional analysis of financial ratios: Review, guidelines and future directions”
  2. “Subsidies and financial performance in the rural tourism sector”
  3. “Financial resilience of agricultural and food production companies in Spain: A compositional cluster analysis of the impact of the Russia–Ukraine war (2021–2023)”

The three articles jointly review the relevant literature on the compositional-data methodology for financial ratios and the existing applications of CoDa methodology over the last ten years. They present the advantages of the CoDa methodology and an accessible how-to guide to encourage new adopters, including average industrial ratios, company visualization, clustering and regression models.
